She enjoyed the creative arts, including ceramics, crocheting and painting. Jerlene enjoyed bowling, reading and was a writer of poetry. After 30 years of employment with the Department of the Navy she retired in 1987 and moved back to the Armona area. She was promoted through the Civil Service Ranks, which took her to the San Francisco Area forġ5 years. Jerlene lived for many years in Armona, California and was the first employee the Department of the Navy hired for the Lemoore Naval Air Station, Western Division, Engineering Command. 14 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren.
